This DVD contains The Devil in Miss Jones 3 and 4, but don't go thinkin' you're getting two movies for the price of one. The two movies combine into one relatively long film, kind of like Toxic Avenger 2 and 3, but with less padding. I read in Flesh and Blood that Devil in Miss Jones 3 and 4 were split into two films because a lot of money was sunk into the production, and it was an easy way to recoup assets. I don't know if that's true, but the production values here are pretty good (comparatively), so at the very least that claim's believable.

Less believable are the claims that this is a remake of the first film. The film opens with a series of interviews talking about Jones, seemingly with the interviewer trying to find out what happened to her. I'll save you the worry and tell you that what's happened is her boyfriend didn't do such a good job of hiding an affair, which upset her. Frustrated, she picked up a stranger at a bar who accidentally (?) killed her, and she awoke in Hell. The rest of the story is Jones having to go through Hell in order to escape from it. She is lead by a stereotypical black guy who tells bad jokes and is very annoying, and encounters all sorts of sexual seediness, because Hell seems to be mostly populated with people who're there for sexual sins. Sometimes the sinners' punishment is ironic, like voyeurs who are now forced to watch sex acts for eternity but never get to participate, but a lot of the punishments seem like excuses for sex. Not a bad thing per se, but it gets a bit tough to make sense of Hell.

Not that Hell is meant to make sense, as it's pretty surreal. For example, Jones' guide turns up riding a nude woman like a horse (who then gets ridden like a dog). The film reminded me of Café Flesh, but with much more normal sex. The acting is surprisingly okay, aside from the guide who should've hit the cutting room floor, even if that meant forsaking coherency. There's a new actress playing Miss Jones this time, and she's not the spinster of the original. First of all, she swears. Also, she's no virgin, though her partner is most put out she won't do anal.

Because Devil in Miss Jones 3 and 4 were originally packaged separately, part 3 ends with a cliffhanger, which in terms of plot might not mean much, but in terms of Jones getting in on the action may have sent a few people back to the video store. In turn, 4 opens with a recap of 3.

If you're in the mood for a big budget 80s porno…actually, I don't really even know anything else I could recommend that meets those criteria, so perhaps I shouldn't be making grand statements about the 80s, porno, or the budgets of 80s porno. With that in mind, I dub Devil in Miss Jones 3 and 4 the best big budget 80s porno ever. Yes, both of them.
Both movies are presented at 1.33:1. There's grain, some slight trailing, spots, dirt, and some video glitches. It's like a VHS transfer, pretty much.
Audio is a two channel track. Again, this is like VHS quality. The score is awful, which has made me accept that sometimes re-scoring a film is okay.
Extra Features
A few scant extras, if you don't count the fact you get both instalments of the film on one disc. You can jump to a scene by a star, look at internet info and covers of other movies, or peruse a small photo gallery for either of the Miss Jones film found on the DVD.
The Verdict
While less interesting than the original, it is just arty enough you may be able to pass it off as worthwhile to a significant other. The disc is hella cheap, so if you just want a few hours of wank material, this should work. If you're a fan of the original, this could be disappointing, but still worth a look.
