|Have you ever read one of our articles and thought "Pffft, I could do better than that"? Well here's your chance to prove it! DVD and Blu-ray reviews are the sites bread and butter and we are always keen to see new reviewers join the team, however we are also interested in hearing from people who would like to contribute news items, feature articles, blog style rants on various genre related subjects, book and video game reviews, interviews, or... anything else you can think of. Got an idea for your own monthly or bi-monthly column? Want to dish out how-to advice? Are you pissed-of by insignificant things and want a major platform to let everyone know about it? We're keen to offer a wider variety of content to our readers and are open to any ideas and suggestions.
What we'd like from you:
Contributors should be based in Australia.
A moderate knowledge of the horror/action/exploitation
genres and basic literacy skills are preferable. i.e, if you've seen the original as well as the remake, know the alphabet and can count to ten,
you are exactly the type of person we are
For news writers we don't necessarily require people who can contribute on a regular basis, just as long as you can scribble something up whenever there's news to report (since the site focuses on the local scene there aren't always newsworthy items floating around). Preferably we would like to build a small team of news hounds who can be "on call" to whip something up whenever news does emerge. Sometimes a news item might be as simple as putting your own spin on a press release. Even if you aren't interested in writing news items for the site yourself we need know to know what's happening out there, so if you see or hear something that might be of interest to our readers, please send us the scoop. You can be our eyes and ears on the streets!
What you'll get from us:
This site is run as a hobby and
currently does not return a profit, so you
will not receive any payment for your contributions.
Regular contributors will however have access to a steady stream of review discs provided by local and international distributors.
As a Digital Retribution contributor you will be setting yourself up for criticism
from readers, genre fans and the internet community
in general. So what are the positives?
Well, according to major website ranking services Digital Retribution is the most
popular Australian based genre site on the net and receives millions of page views each month, providing a sturdy platform for you to show your
writing skills to the world. Previous contributors have gone on to bigger and better things as a direct result of writing for Digital Retribution, and you could too! There's also the smug glow of satisfaction that comes from being part of the Digital Retribution team.
Still interested? If so, send an email telling us a little about yourself and what you'd like to contribute (news, reviews, features, etc) to firstname.lastname@example.org along with a sample of your writing and we'll get back to you ASAP.
